After Having pleading no contest to a felony charge of possession of a firearm in a school zone, westcoast rapper The Game was sentenced to spend 60 days behind bars yesterday (February 11th).
As HipHopDons.com/RapBlueprint.com previously reported, the Compton, California rapper decided to cop a plea deal rather than take the case to trial on the charges of making criminal threats, possessing a firearm in a school zone and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a police officer after allegedly bieng involved in a brawl during a game of basketball. The incidents all allegedly occured last February at South Los Angeles’ Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex.
In an interview in the debut issue of hip-hop magazine MONSTA the rapper told them “The crazy part about this is that I’ve had guns before in my life, But this time I didn’t have a gun.” adding “because one person said I had a gun and coaxed his homies into saying that I had a gun, I’m in a predicament where I’m asking, Do I want to spend another million dollars to fight this trial so who knows what jury’s gonna come in and say I’m guilty? Or do I want to save my money, go sit down for four months and accept this felony they’re trying to give me for no reason?”
According to The Los Angeles Times the two additional charges, of making criminal threats and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a police officer, were dismissed.
The Game is expected to hand himself to authorities as early as next week to start serving his 60 day sentence.
