Chicago-bred MC Common, who two days ago picked up the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group for his collaboration with Kanye West on the song ‘Southside’, has posted a video journal [click here] to update fans on his “new things, new ideas, [and] new creations.”

In the video Common confirms that his upcoming album, which is his eighth, is to be titled ‘The Believer’.

“The new album…I haven’t started, but I started mentally,” he says adding “I’m definitely looking forward to doing some work with [Kanye West], I wanna do some work with Pharrell and you know the Neptunes, and maybe Just Blaze too because actually Just Blaze and i just started working on this song…a remix for ‘The Light’.”

As HipHopDons.com/RapBlueprint.com previously reported, [click here] Common has teamed up with producer Just Blaze to create a remix of ‘The Light’ in support of Smirnoff’s new Signature Mix.

“I’m writing it right now” he says referring to the remix, “i just came from riding out in the truck and writing it…[Just Blaze] gave me a real cold beat, so, I’m looking forward to working with him too.”

Common also reveals in the video that he has numerous film projects coming up although gives very little information on them.

“You don’t want to talk about stuff till it’s etched in stone and everything is there,” he says, “because you be sayin stuff and then it don’t happen, or you just keep the energy close till it’s time.”

He does however announce the titles of two other films which he is involved with, Wanted which Co-stars Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie and The Night Watch Man which has officially been renamed to Street Kings and which we recently posted the first cinematic trailer for [click here].

Common’s eighth album, and third with producer/label-mate Kanye West, The Believer, is due to be released by November this year.
