Terror Squad member DJ Khaled has signed a partnership between his label, We The Best Music, and Def Jam Records, Island Def Jam Music Group Antonio “L.A.” Reid announced today (February 13).
Terror Squad’s DJ Khaled has signed a partnership between his own label, We The Best Music, and Def Jam Records it was announced today (February 13th), by Island Def Jam Music Group’s Antonio “L.A.” Reid.
The name for DJ Khaled’s new label takes it’s inspiration from the title of the DJ’s second album, We The Best, which hit #1 on Billboard’s independent albums chart. The album also included the commercially successful singles, “We Takin’ Over,” which features guest appearances from T.I., Akon, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Lil’ Wayne & Birdman and “I’m So Hood,” which features Trick Daddy, Plies, T-Pain, & Rick Ross.
“I’m proud to be a member of the Def Jam family,” DJ Khaled said. “Def Jam has been and still is one of the most important institutions in Hip-Hop and music as a whole. I am extremely honored and excited to be a partner with them in We The Best Music.”
DJ Khaled will also executive produce upcoming releases from members of Terror Squad and will continue managing the production team The Runners.
Rapper Ace will be the first artist to release material through Khaled’d We The Best Music/Def Jam label.
