Hip-Hop mogul 50 Cent certainly isn’t letting the recession stop him from venturing into new areas of business.
HipHopsHome.com has learned that the multi-platinum selling rapper has announced that he is about to launch his new film production company, Cheetah Vision.
50 made the announcement Yesterday (Jan 19th) at the Sundance Fim Festival where he also revealed that the company had already purchased eight film scripts.
The first of those scripts to be put into production is a movie called “The Cage” which stars 50 Cent himself alongside Nicholas Cage.
“[The script for this movie] was previously passed around a little bit but both me and Nicolas Cage had an interest in the film so it will still happen,” 50 Cent said. “[Cage] plays the founder of a boxing program, and I play a fighter who goes to [a] state prison”.
The G-Unit general said that the other seven scripts are all very different from one another and said that fans can expect some different things from him in the future.
“They are all different types of movies that I bought the rights to, and we’re developing projects,” 50 noted. “You will see different things from me in the future.”
Fifty will be making his directional debut later this year with the release of the film “Before I Self Destruct” which will be included for free with his upcoming album with the same name.
“It’s an opportunity to make sure my fans get to see my first piece,” 50 said of the flick. “It actually allowed me to show cause and effect to some of the actions that I wrote about on the album.”
As well as directing the film, 50 Cent also wrote and produced it. He says that the film allows him to better explain some of the scenarios that he will talk about on his album.
“Because I have three minutes to create a song it’s not enough time for me to give an explanation for a person doing these things.” he said. “It’s just saying the action and not giving a description of the circumstances they are under.”
50 Cent also revealed that “Before I Self Destruct” had been pushed back again and that it is now set for release in March.
