Less than a day after footage of Jay-Z performing to Young Jeezy’s “My President Is Black” was released, Jigga spoke to MTV about the verse and confirmed his lyrics which were difficult to hear over the noise of the crowd in the video footage.

“Rosa Parks sat down so Martin Luther could walk, Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run, Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly,” Jay-Z raps over the track.”So I’mma spread my wings, You could meet me in the sky.”

Just before performing at a show at the Warner Theater, Jay explained his lyrics in a little more depth.

“It’s just the progression,” he said. “You sat, you walked, you ran, you ran to fly, you know, just the progression and how far we’ve come as a nation. It feels good to say that, ’cause I never had that type of feeling to say as a nation, like I was part of the American dream. And I believe a lot of people didn’t feel like a part of the American process for so long.”

Jay also said that the inauguration of Barack Obama will give America a new feeling of hope.

“Now everyone’s included in the American process this great day, so that’s the progression and the process.” Jay-Z said. “Now there’s no excuses for anybody. Now you can look into a child’s eyes and say, ‘Get it together. You can be president.’ It’s not an easy thing, but it can happen.” he added. “And we have evidence to the fact.”

Although not officially confirmed, fans have been speculating that the full version of the “My President Is Black” remix will be released today in celebration of Obama’s Inauguration.

Jay-Z is currently at work on his eleventh album “The Blueprint 3″ which is set for release sometime this year. Jay-Z said he isn’t rushing.

“I wanna make [The Blueprint 3] beyond and above, so I’m [going to] take my time with it.” Jay revealed. “I don’t have any quarters to make or anything like that, which is a great feeling for me….it may be too freeing.”
