Ludacris’ DTP Re-Signs Deal With Def Jam

Ludacris has re-signed a long-term distribution deal with parent company Island Def Jam Music Group for his Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP) label.

The recent announcement puts an end to rumors that Ludacris’ Atlanta-based label was being dropped from the Def Jam roster.

“The Atlanta hip-hop scene and the Dirty South movement in general owe more than they can ever repay to Chris,” Island Def Jam chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid said via a statement. “Our friendship stretches back more than a decade and I never cease to be amazed at his imagination, creativity, and most of all his outrageous sense of humor.”

“Now, changing business conditions necessitate that we review our respective rosters and focus to ensure that future opportunities and challenges are aggressively achieved.” Reid continued “Ludacris has built Disturbing Tha Peace into one of the iconic names in hip-hop, one that will remain an important part of the Island Def Jam family.”

While L.A Reid confirmed that Luda’s DTP imprint would be backed by Def Jam, the current status of a number of DTP artists such as Bobby Valentino, Shareefa and Steph Jones is currently not clear.

Ludacris is currently working on music for his upcoming sixth album, Theater of The Mind. The album is according to Luda a summary of all of his previously released albums compiled into one album.
