50 Cent, Bizzy Bone and Chingy Record Biggie Tribute Track

It’s only two days before the 11th anniversary of the death of Notorious B.I.G. AKA Christopher George Latore Wallace (May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997) and a number of unlikely collaborators are releasing a new tribute song dedicated to the late rapper.

The track is titled ‘Can I Speak to Biggie?’ and features 50 Cent, Bizzy Bone, Chingy, Maino, Bobby Valentino, Chris Notez and N.Y. rapper ‘Hav Boy’ Monte. The track which was produced by Monte is the first song of its kind which is not affiliated with Diddy or his Bad Boy record label.

According to Monte a conversation that the rapper had with Rap artists Mase and Jadakiss about the three of them recording a song in honour of Biggie inspired the new tribute song.

“The studio that I work out of is in Bed-Stuy where Biggie was raised, the block that he was on every day” Monte revealed. “That conversation between Mase and Jadakiss just kept running through my mind so I called a bunch of people that I thought would be great for the record, people who had meaning whether it meant past, present or future. Everyone that I reached out to was happy to do it,” he added. “Nobody even wanted any money for doing this.”

Bizzy Bone said that he was honoured to be involved in the project.

“I didn’t even have to think about it,” Bizzy Bone said. “How could I not want to pay tribute to such an amazing spirit and talent as Biggie? It is an honor to be a part of this.”

Monte is planning to release video footage from behind-the-scenes of the recording of ‘Can I Speak to Biggie?’ and says he will also be creating a Biggie tribute song each year which will feature different artists.

‘Can I Speak to Biggie?’ is reportedly being released to radio stations nationwide today (March 7th).
