As HipHopsHome.com previously reported, Hip-Hop vet Ice-T and Soulja Boy “Tell ‘em” have been involved in a war of words stemming from comments Ice-T made on a recent Mixtape.
Soulja Boy Took Offence to the comments and released a video to the video sharing site YouTube in which he called Ice-T a number of names and joked that the rapper was old enough to be his grandfather.
Round two of the beef came when Ice-T and his son released a video to the Internet apologizing to Soulja Boy and then proceeding to diss him again, Ice-T told Soulja Boy that his music is “Garbage” and he should learn to actually write music.
Perhaps surprisingly, Chicago MC Kanye West has spoken of his thoughts on the Beef and has taken Soulja Boy’s side over Ice-T.
On his blog ‘ye wrote the following post to give his side of the situation, making it clear that he has nothing against Ice-T but adding that he “Gotta ride with Soulja Boy,” even comparing the teenage rapper to Nas.
“Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level shit… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this shit fresh and original…. ain’t no fuckin’ rules to this shit and that’s what real hip hop is to me.”
No doubt this wont be the last development in this beef, HipHopsHome.com will keep you updated so stay tuned.

Hip hop changes, if it was the same then we would get bored and start listening to country. New music is good too because it brings something that has never been done. Soulja is creative being who will evolve into something new.

In all honesty, I agree with Ye…to a certain degreee. Hip Hop is about stayin real, fresh and original. I also dont like Soulja Boy (cept when Im in a club with a hot chick dancin on me…then yeah I’ll dance to it) but that crap the he sings is fresh and real to him…whats real to you is not necessarily real to everybody else…thats what makes us all unique. I know people who couldn be bothered by the “realism” that I find in people like Immortal Technique…its just not real to them.
