Suge Knight Sells Death Row Records For $24 Million Dollars

The once “Untouchable” Death Row Records was sold at auction Yesterday (June 26th) for a reported $24 million dollars.

According to TMZ, The president of Global Music Group, Susan Berg, won the bid for the label meaning that she is now the owner of all of the recordings made by 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Tha Dogg Pound among others which include twenty unreleased tracks from the late rapper 2Pac.

Suge Knight was forced to auction off the label and it’s assets by a bankruptcy court judge.

Founded in 1991 by Dr.Dre and Suge Knight, Death Row became one of the most successful labels of the mid 1990’s and to date has sold nearly 50 million units globally and generated revenue of around $750 million dollars.

After a number of financial and legal problems Suge Knight filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April of 2006, the company’s debts were said to be more than $137.4 million dollars and $4.4 million dollars in assets.

As HipHopsHome.com previously reported, both Koch Records and Warner Music Group had shown interest in purchasing the label with the latter making a bid of $25 million back in February of this year.
