50 Cent’s Lawyer Can Remain Part Of His Child Custody Case Says Judge

50 Cent’s lawyer has been allowed to remain a part of the rappers child custody case despite attempts by 50’s ex Shaniqua, to have him removed.

Shaniqua Tompkins, who is the mother of 50 Cent’s 11-year-old son Marquis, requested that 50 Cent’s lawyer Brett Kimmel be removed from the case stating there was a conflict of interest.

She claimed that in 2005, prior to the current case, she too seeked legal advice from Kimel and says that as a result he now partially knows her strategy.

Tompkins says that some of the things she discussed with Kimel in 2005 involved child support and her financial rights over 50 Cent’s “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” film.

The Associated Press are now reporting that Yesterday (July 15th) Judge Carol Edmead ruled that because Kimmel didn’t create an attorney-client relationship with Tompkins he will be permitted to remain a part of the case.

Edmead will decide if 50 Cent or Shaniqua Tompkins should have custody of their son Marquis, and who should recieve the insurance money from 50 Cent’s Long Island mansion which was worth approximately $2.4 million dollars.

As HipHopsHome.com previously reported, the mansion burned down in may while Tompkins and her son were inside.

At the time of the blaze the home was at the centre of a legal battle between 50 and Tompkins after 50 Cent attempted to have her evicted from the house, she claimed that he had given it to her and their son to live in.

Police claimed that the fire was “Suspicious” and Tompkins claimed that she believed 50 Cent was involved in starting the fire, claims which 50 Cent has strongly denied.

50 Cent subsequently hit back at Tompkins with a $20 million dollar defamation lawsuit which as of press time is still pending.

The actual cause of the blaze at the Long Island home has not yet been determined.
