West Coast rapper The Game (born Jayceon Taylor) is being accused of possessing a firearm in a school zone, making criminal threats, and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a police officer after allegedly bieng involved in a brawl during a game of basketball.
The alleged incident occured on February 24th of last year at South L.A.’s Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex. In September The Game pled not guilty to all charges and was facing a possible five years imprisonment if convicted.
However, The Game has now decided that instead of fighting the felony gun charges that he was presented with last year, he will save his money and serve his time in a Los Angeles jail.
In the debut issue of hip-hop magazine MONSTA, The Game says that he’s copping to guilt in court despite the fact that he is actually innocent.
“The crazy part about this is that I’ve had guns before in my life, But this time I didn’t have a gun.” he told the magazine. “And because one person said I had a gun and coaxed his homies into saying that I had a gun, I’m in a predicament where I’m asking, Do I want to spend another million dollars to fight this trial so who knows what jury’s gonna come in and say I’m guilty? Or do I want to save my money, go sit down for four months and accept this felony they’re trying to give me for no reason?”
The Game reveals more on his four month bid in the debut issue of MONSTA magazine, which is a new venture from by former Source magazine owners Dave Mays and Raymond “Benzino” Scott.
The first issue of the magazine is due to debut on February 12th.
