Dr. Dre’s daughter, Manaj, has recently released a downloadable web documentary called “Daddy’s Shadow” which will show her attempts to make it into the music industry and the problems she encounters despite having the super producer as her father.
In the documentary Manaj, 23, says that Dr.Dre did not attempt to help her to create a rap career and alleges that he doesn’t want her to pursue her dream.
“You tell me you don’t want me to rap,” Manaj says to her father in the documentary’s trailer [click to watch] “But you’re out here helping everyone else.”
The film also shows footage from behind the scenes of her family life as well as Manaj working in the studio and some footage of her with her father.
Minaj directed Daddy’s Shadow herself and the documentary will be distributed via her record label TM Media Group, Inc.
Originally the documentary was set to be released in 2006 however after Minaj fell out with Dre over the content of the flick it’s release was pushed back.
Dr. Dre is currently working on his long awaited Detox album which is said to include appearances from Jay-Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, Eminem, 50 Cent among others.
Minaj’s “Daddy’s Shadow” is currently available for a $9.99 download or $4.95 one-time stream at http://www.tmmediagroup.com/.
