This is without doubt one of the best put together mixtapes of the year.
Alot of mixtapes are badly ordered, rushed and full of old tracks but “The N*gger Tape” goes against what we have learnt to expect from the typical mix CD’s which are usually hosted by DJ’s with massive ego’s and no talent or taste in music.
It’s been a while since Green Lantern has released a mixtape, like many other DJ’s he seems to have decided that the work which goes into creating them is not worth the few dollars profit that they are likely to generate.
But it’s understandable why Green would feel that way considering the amount of work that he has clearly put into this mixtape. The tracks transition through the whole CD perfectly and the skits and interludes add to the experience instead of just being there to fill the disc.
Nas of course brings the heat, addressing political issues and being deliberately controversial.
On the Green Lantern produced “Black President” Nas gives his thoughts on Barack Obama and considers what his train of thought would be on election night, while on the Keri Hilson assisted “Hero,” Nas rhymes over a beat from Polow Da Don in what is clearly not what fans have become to expect from Nas but is hot regardless.
Other stand out tracks include the Joel Ortiz featured “Ghetto (Remix)” and Green Lantern’s remix of “Gangsta Rap.”
This is definitely one not to miss. And if you havn’t done so already then i suggest you click the link below right now and go get yourself a copy.
