With Terminate On Sight G-Unit make an obvious attempt to hit back at the haters and return to the hardcore street influenced music that they first came into the Hip-Hop game with.
Between the opening track “Straight Outta Southside” and the last “Money make the world go round,” there is alot fewer commercial tracks than on some of the previous albums to come out of the camp.
As a result Terminate On Sight sounds much more like a mixtape than it does a retail album which is both a good thing and a bad thing.
On the positive side Hip-Hop fans who hated 50 Cent’s Curtis album and were disappointed with it’s commercial beats and sing songy hooks got what they asked for with this album which is definitely more Hip-Hop themed than R&B.
However on the other side of the argument this album is not much different to any other G-Unit mixtape or album, it doesn’t really offer anything that we haven’t already heard before it just does it in a different way.
If you’re a fan of the G-Unit or of they re past work then the chances are you will love this album and play it on loop until the next album from the Unit drops, if you’re not this probably wont do anything to change your opinion of them and is probably one to pass on.
