Wack mixtape DJs go hide in the corner, stick your thumb in your butt. You may move more units and your “name” might be more well known by the “crack” heads who cop your product but you, me and Rhude know who is really doing their thing when it comes to true school mixtapes. Admit it, you’re really a fan. Its ok, Rhude knows this. It’s why he’s a leader and not a mindless follower like….you.
I feel like just posting the track list in the review and calling it a day. If only it were that easy for ALL the mixtapes. “Let’s Rock” is the joint right now. I don’t care what track you say is better…it’s not. Bun B rides with Termanology perfectly might be the collaboration of ’08. “On a short pier and you about to walk a long one”….hmmm sounds like hip-hop in 2008. Not on this song tho. If there is one MC that might actually rob you and/while spittin’ some hot shit it’s Grafh. “Piano Man” is potent but it’s the middle finger Grafh throws up with every track, every mixtape and every album to the industry that made me fan. Fuck ‘em all Grafh, I’m ridin’ with you on that shit man. I actually think Joell Ortiz will get some backlash from not being on Aftermath now. Me personally I’d rather him be in free agent mode but the masses are trendy and Aftermath is a name that sticks in their heads, that validation. Shit is changing, slowly, but its coming. “Memories” is a big track; all lyrics all day. I’m telling you Jada can have a colossal album this year if he doesn’t fuck it up. “Don’t Start Nothing” is cool, hook was ehhh but I fucks with it. What can I say about Big Lou? If you’re an MC he’ll eat your food, shit he’ll probably eat your whole refrigerator. Peep “Stereotype” and tell me differently. Snyp Life goes in on the “NY State Of Mind” freestyle. Not many MCs can do that beat proper but Snyp is hungry and it shows. The fact “To The Top” isn’t on more mixtapes is a crime. Ya’ll DJs is tampons sometimes. Statik Selektah doesn’t drop bullshit, ever…the fuck is wrong with ya’ll? Did you hear Mike Nice flip the beat for “Take The Money”? That shit was crazy! Do your thing man. I’ve been fucking with “Coogi Down”, shit just adds that much more to the mix. WTK is still poised for big things. Young Tef is the sleeper. “Realist Shit I Ever Wrote” is strong…”born human but we raised Pit”…damn. Keep ya ears open for this cat. The hook for “On The Radio” lost me a little but damn, Remo, Ran, St Laz featuring and the dude Cerose spit some real shit too. Another track cats are sleeping on.
Street certified mixtape people, there’s no more to it.
